VW CC

03:10

VW shocked the world when they first introduced the very first Passat CC back in 2008. VW promised that it will be one of the cheapest four door coupes in the world.

Volkswagen Comfort Coupe
Many thought that they were unrealistic but an amazing 270,000 versions of the VW Passat CC have been sold worldwide. To make the new Passat CC, Volkswagen designers looked to the new Phaeton executive saloon and the new Passat for inspiration. To begin with the new four-door loses its Passat name. However VW ensured that it still carries the Passat magic that made it to gain so many fans in the first place.

Agressive front look based on the Phaeton
The front design consists of a bold new front grill finished in chrome. New bi-xenon headlamps with LED daytime running lights give the car a more up market look. Just like the new Passat the CC gets an extra air intake beneath the body-coloured bumper. It alsocomes with 3 chrome fins and powerful fog lamps.
Side profile
The side profile consists of the stylish frameless doors and more distinctively sculpted side sills between the wheel housings. A chrome strips adorn each side of the car. They are visible at its uniquely styled doors. A long swept rear back window adorns the back while the coupe like styled rear helps to bring out the sporty look of the CC. Rear LED lights give the rear an unmistakable look at night while the VW logo adorns the stylish rear boot. It not only acts as the lid for the boot but also incorporates a rear view camera. A new touch to the rear CC is the LED illuminated licence plate area.

Multifunctional steering wheel

Under the bonnet is a choice of powerful petrol and diesel engines. All diesel engines will come equipped with a Stop/Start system and a battery regeneration mode as standard. All petrol engines also have battery regeneration functionality. The TDI engines range from the entry level 130hp the powerful 167hp engine. The petrol engines range from the 158hp engine to the mid-range 208hp engine. Two powerful engines are on offer as well.
LED adorn the rear
There is a 276hp engine and a powerful 402hp engine. All engines up 281hp are offered with manual transmission as standard. An optional DSG transmission is also available. The top of the range 402hp CC comes with the DSG gearbox as standard plus 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard equipment.

Comfortable rear seats for 5 occupants

The new CC comes as standard with four seating positions. A continuous bench seat (with 3 seats) is available as an alternative to the standard system with 2 individual seats. The front dashboard design remains unchanged. However it now has a lovely analogue clock sits at the center. Another new option is a brown interior. With this installed, the dashboard is adorn by reconfigured wood accents and is finished in brown. The doors, seats and arm rest are finished in brown as well. A range of standard equipment are offered with the new CC.
Front sports seats
It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, sports seats, dual exhaust, various cupholders, chrome surrounds on switches and air vents, air conditioner, sport chassis, 'Auto-hold' function, hill start assistant, automatic control of running lights and an automatic bootlid opening from the interior. All versions with engines with 167hp and above come with DCC dynamic chassis control. All versions come fitted with ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) and 6 airbags. Bi-xenon headlights, static cornering lights, headlight washing system, rear LED lights, LED licence plate illumination and more prominent side sill flares are also fitted as standard.

Standard interior equipment include the RCD 310 radio-CD system, front head restraints with longitudinal 'X adjustment', stainless steel door sill plates and a multifunctional steering wheel. Optional features include the lane-changing assistant Side Assist Plus that integrates the Lane Assist lane-keeping assistant; the combination of these two systems now implemented represents a significant functional extension and a gain in safety.
Classy cockpit
Also new in the CC is the sensor-controlled Easy Open system for opening the bootlid by a foot movement behind the vehicle. Dynamic Light Assist, Park Assist 2.0 (automatic parking assist for parking spaces either perpendicular or parallel to the roadway with 360° Optical Parking System), ACC (adaptive cruise control with Front Assist surroundings monitoring system and City Emergency Braking), DCC (dynamic chassis control), active climate seats (front) with massage function, windscreen (climate comfort window) that is heated without wires and can reflect infrared light. A new owner can also add noise-insulating side windows made of laminated safety glass.

Powerful V6 engine

Comfort and style options available include a transparent panoramic sunroof, radio-navigation systems, sound systems (such as the 'Dynaudio Confidence' with 300 Watts), hands-free telephone units, multimedia interface (MEDIA-IN), garage door opener integrated in the sun visor, ambiance lighting in the door accent panels, 17, 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system (with indicators for each individual wheel), auxiliary heating system and leather interior options.

VW have not only made the CC classier but they have proven yet again that it has the influence to get more buyers. Will this particular version get those impressive numbers to 400,000 units? Only time will tell
