Jaguar has finally let off the curtain to unveil their newest two seater sports car. It marks a new chapter in Jaguar’s 75 year history. The new F-Type adds one more amazing car to their extensive choice of cars ranging from the sexy XF, stylish XK and the majestic XJ Saloon.
Jaguar F-Type
The F-Type seems to borrow its inspiration from the classy C-X16 concept. It has a unique design filled with lovely curves and stylish angles to give it a desirable look. The use of aluminiumensures balanced weight distribution, rigid and light weight structure.

At the front it has large shark-like gills that sit at each side of the prominent angular Jaguar front grill. A large front air splitter ensures smooth flow of air under the car. Stylish Bi-Xenons with LED daytime lights give the car an aggressive look. Its side look consists of a low beltline, stylish alloy wheels and stylish doors. An active rear spoiler that deploys at certain speeds hides distinctively at the back.

Rear stylish LED’s borrowed from the C-X16 give the car a beautiful rear look. Other key touches to the exterior of the car are is stylish side gills that are visible at the front fenders of the car and two intakes at the bonnet for the supercharger. It also has a large rear diffuser with twin exhaust ends at each side. The various stylish details make it one of the most beautiful two seater roadster on the market at the moment.

Stylish even with the roof up
The new baby Jaguar roadster will be available in three variants. There is the F-Type, F-Type S and F-Type V8 S. Each is distinguished by the power output of its supercharged petrol engine with all engines featuring stop/start technology to maximize efficiency. Under the stylish bonnet is a selection of two engines.

There is a 3.0litre V6 that comes loaded with either 335hp for the F-Type or 375hp for the F-Type S.  0 to 100km/h in the 335hp F-Type takes 5.1 seconds. Top speed is capped at 260km/h. The 375hp V6 F-Type S sprints from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 275hp. With a V8 under the bonnet, the F-Type V8 S comes loaded with 488hp and 625Nm of torque. That power is enough to sprint it from 0 to 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds.
Comfortable two seater interior
Top speed is limited to an impressive 300km/h. All S and V8 F-Types come fitted with an active exhaust systems that produces an impressive soundtrack as the engine revs to its redline. Married to the engine is an eight-speed Quickshift transmission system with closely-spaced ratios. The V-6 powered S model comes with a Dynamic launch feature that optimizes acceleration from rest. Power is sent to the rear wheels of the car which offer amazing response thanks to the car’s overall balanced weight.

The interior is stylish as well. The driver focused interior borrows its inspiration from cockpits of fighter airplanes. Each of the controls is strategically placed and grouped by function. Another aeronautical inspired design is the joystick-shaped SportShift selector controlling the eight-speed transmission that is visible behind the center console controls.
Air craft inspired interior
A grab handle which sweeps down the centre console on the passenger side helps to differentiate the passenger side from the driver’s side. Air vents on top of the dashboard stay tucked discreetly out of sight and only open when activated by the driver. The seats offer impressive comfort for long journeys.

One can also order the F-type with stylish and comfortable sports seats. The use of different trim materials either side of the cabin give the interior stylish and posh look. The F-Type is available with a choice of two audio systems from premium British audio experts Meridian. There is either a 10 speaker system or 12 speakers system with outputs of 380 watts and 770 watts, respectively. The top of the range Meridian audio system also features the Meridian Trifield System, which places both occupants at the center of their own perfectly focused surround sound field. Standard Radio equipment is an 180W 6 speaker system.

The new F-Type prices start from £58,500 (Kshs 7.6 million excluding taxes). The F-Type S goes for £67,500 (Kshs 8.7 million excluding taxes) while the top of the range F-Type V8 S will be ours starting from 79,950 (Kshs 10.3 million excluding taxes). It’s only available as a convertible roadster for now. A coupe version is expected soon.

The F-Type is the best move Jaguar has ever made after the introduction of the stylish XJ executive saloon. In my own eyes this cute car looks more like a re-incarnation of the famous Jaguar E-type which at its launch was considered by many to be the most beautiful car on the planet. 41 years later and Jaguar have again brought back the beautiful roadster magic that was lost for many years. I can’t wait to see it on African shores soon.
