Honda CR-V

13:52

Honda CR-V has been with us since 1995. Three generations and more five million units later Honda has presented an all new fourth generation CR-V.

Honda CR-V
The new CR-V has a more aggressive and aerodynamic front. The front bumper's smooth, flowing lines are joined by a horizontal three-bar grille and deep-set headlights. The headlights now feature LED lights that make the front even more stylish.

The lower bumper has three large air intakes and stylish fog headlamps. The bumper has also been restyled to give the car a generous front approach angle. The windscreen has been brought further forwards to improve overall visibility while the bonnet is now shorter than ever before. It also has new restyled side mirrors that have integrated turn signals.

Deep set headlamps with LED daytime running lights

The signature vertical rear brake lights, which have featured on every generation of Honda CR-V, remain but now have a more three-dimensional style. The rear lights also feature LED technology to offer better illumination at night. The new rear window design gives a better rear view of the road.

Restyled side look

The CR-V's large wheels and bold wheel arches further emphasise its dynamic presence and capability. The new CR-V is also more aerodynamic thanks to the adoption of a flat under floor and sculptured wheelarches.  Both help to smooth the air flow under the car, while the new longer roof combined with aerodynamically optimized front bumper and rear spoiler help to manage the air-flow over the body.

Under its new shorter bonnet is a choice of two engines. There is a 2.0 litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a 2.2litrei-DTEC diesel engine. The 2.2-litre 4 cylinder diesel engine comes packed with 148hp and 350 Nm of torque while 2.0-litre 4 cylinder i-VTEC petrol engine comes with 153hp. Both engines are married to either a six speed manual or a five speed automatic transmission system.

Classy new alloy wheels
All CR-V come equipped with an ECON button Eco Assist™ system. The Eco Assist™ system helps drivers optimize their driving efficiency. The system uses the car's speedometer to advise drivers how their driving style is impacting fuel economy.

Its heart

If the car is being driven economically, the dashboard glows green. If the driver slightly exceeds the best level of throttle control, the dashboard will glow white/green. Finally, it will glow white during heavy acceleration and deceleration. The ECON mode alters the mapping of the drive-by-wire throttle system to ensure a smooth increase in torque for a more relaxing drive and greater fuel efficiency.

Idle Stop technology is standard on all new CR-V models with a manual transmission. The system is activated when the driver reaches a standstill and selects neutral, the engine will automatically stop when they release the clutch. It automatically restarts when they depress the clutch to select a gear. A display on the dashboard indicates the operation of Idle Stop and the system can be disabled using a button on the fascia.

Fog lamps

The new CR-V is available with a two-wheel drive or four wheel drive chassis set up. Power sent to the wheels is managed by a McPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. The McPherson has specially tuned bushings and precisely calibrated suspension geometry to ensure optimal ride, handling and steering feel in a wide variety of road conditions.
Large boot space
The rear independent, multi-link suspension system with an aluminium knuckle is designed to optimise the ride and handling while maximizing cargo space. The three-link system uses large-diameter trailing-arm bushings to reduce harshness and improve ride comfort. All models feature front and rear anti-roll bars to reduce body roll during cornering.

Rear of the Design Pack CR-V
The new CR-V now comes with an all new Motion Adaptive Electric Power Steering Wheel System (MA-EPS). The steering system has been tuned to offer increased feedback and response at higher speeds. A new Real Time 4WD system is available on request.
Econ button
The system can detect changes in traction and gradient of the road and automatically make changes that help improve the overall grip of the car and also provide additional rear wheel torque to ensure a smoother drive.  Hosts of safety system help boost its agility and overall safety on the road.
Instrument cluster
A system called Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), an electronic stability control system, works by applying brake force to one or more wheels independently to help the driver maintain their intended direction of travel. All new CR-V models are equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes (front ventilated discs and rear solid discs) for confident braking.
Spacious and roomy interior
The system incorporates 4-channel ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist as standard. Safety system such as Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) help the driver in to maneuver the car safely on the road.

Improved rear design
Then interior of the new CR-V receives a new restyling just like the exterior. It receives a refreshed dashboard, restyled air vents, a new steering wheel and new comfortable seats. In order to emphasize the feeling of space inside, the door casings have been sculpted to create a concave shape.
Restyled side mirrors
This has also allowed the occupants of the front seats to be moved closer to the sides of the car, making it easier to step in and out. As a consequence, more space has been liberated between the seats for a centre console that houses three cupholders, a storage compartment, an armrest and air vents for the rear seats. A 5 inch "intelligent" Multi-Information Display (i-MID), which controls the audio, telephone and navigation systems, rests gracefully on its stylish dash.
Restyled dashboard
The rear seats have also been restyled to offer a more comfortable seating position and increased headroom to the rear passengers. A change in the design of the rear seats now makes them easier to fold down. At the pull of a handle, the CR-V can be transformed from a five-seater passenger car into a versatile load carrier. With the rear seats folded flat, the boot capacity of the CR-V has grown by 147 litres to 1648 litres.
New multifunction steering wheel
If the space-saver spare wheel is specified, the volume increases to 1669 litres with the seats folded up, or 589 litres with the seats in place. The load length has been increased by 140 mm to 1570 mm, while the height of the load lip has been reduced by 25 mm to make it easier to load heavy or awkward items.
5-inch intelligent multi information display
The rear tailgate can be opened and closed automatically with the keyless entry system. Sound insulation material has been applied to the floor below the passenger compartment, while sound absorption material has been fitted to the rear door, rear wheelarches, door frames, front bulkhead and bonnet. The doors also now feature a double seal. This gives the interior an even quieter feel.

Fold rear seats for more room
The new CR-V is available in three trim packs. There is Urban Pack which enhances the CR-V’s sporty looks. With the package one gets Front and rear bumpers with matte silver finish a rear tailgate spoiler and matte silver door mirror covers that help highlight its sporty profile. Another package is the Robust Pack. This enhances the CR-V’s go-anywhere, rugged looks.
