The biggest motoring event in East and Central Africa was hosted at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

It was also a great opportunity for automobile companies to showcase the very latest models up for grabs. DT Dobie set the ball rolling with the new Mercedes C class, E-coupe and the showstopper the new CLS.

Next was Toyota Kenya which not only had the most expensive Prado in the market at the show but they also launched the new Toyota Hilux, Fortuna and Corolla.

The Bavarian Auto stand never missed a crowd thanks to the beautiful sight of the BMW 5 series, X6 and the baby X1. It was the only firm that allowed people play around with their expensive toys with the X6 bearing the heavy brunt of fingerprints, shoe prints on its expensive mats and hair oil on it smooth black leather seats. Simba Colt, the mother of Bavarian Auto, could not allow her child to steal the show.

The Lancer EX GT, Outlander and the full optional Pajero, that had a subwoofer so powerful one would be left thinking if we were next to a matatu stage, ensured that Mitsubishi lovers had something to smile about.
Next door Subaru Kenya was showcasing it latest beauties with the Legacy saloon and the Outback stealing the show at the stand.

The Forester S-Edition can’t keep up with the wide space available in it bigger sisters, but at least it has the power to leave them at their rightful place, at the back of it stylish rear bumper. However the king of the stand was the Tribeca which combines the roomy interior of the huge Subaru saloons and the power and agility of the Forester.

The most improved of all automakers at the event has to be Hyundai. My God were their creations eye catching! From the Santa Fe, which looks more like a five seater even thought it can carry seven people in comfort, to the Tucson which sold out on it launch day.

There was also the H-1 Limousine Van which featured reclining leather seats, a 15 inch LCD screen, chrome wheels and a 10 speaker entertainment unit.

The crown jewel for their stand was the Sonata, a model with not only eye catching looks but with all the luxuries you could ever wish for in a midsized saloon. Its Hyundai’s message to Kenya ‘we are back with a huge bang’.

CMC took the number one podium with the most mouth watering toys in the market today. There were various models from the new Passat, the stylish Touareg and the practical Mazda 6.
Ford Kuga

The Range Rover Vogue and Sport got some attention as they could not keep up with the charming claws of the Jaguar XJ and XK-R. If there was a car that stole the hearts of people at the event, it had to be the XK-R.

The lady in charge of the stand had a hard time trying to control crowds who were busy taking photos, touching its polished white body and sitting on its charming bonnet.

See the attention it got

The XK-R’s astonishing sound was enough to fill the whole CMC stand with people recording clips with their mobile phones and cameras. The event ended with reports that someone had spent over Kshs. 20 million on the Jaguar XK
