Land Rover Range Rover
Ever since the debut of the first Range Rover in 1970 a lot has changed. It has now evolved to the most luxurious 4x4 in the world. With the restyled fourth generation Range Rover, things are now better than ever.

Fore father of Range Rover
It now boasts of an all new LR-TDV8 4.4-litre diesel engine with parallel sequential turbo charging. The engine gives out 300 bhp and will take it from stand still to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. The top speed is now increased to 210km/h. The good news however is in terms of fuel economy. 

Adaptive Bi-xenon headlamps


It now boasts of a fuel consumption of 9.3 litres per 100 km covered. Connect to this engine is an eight speed transmission system. It’s also the first Range to loose the gear selector. It’s now replaced with a similar system consisting of a knob selector found in all Jaguar cars. 

Drive selector
Driver Type Detection monitors driver inputs and the car's systems to optimize the response of the gearbox to the driver's style, while Curve Detection makes sure the gearbox avoids annoying up shifts and holds on to the same gear when taking a sequence of bends. The gearbox also monitors the driver's use of the brake together with the rate of deceleration to set up the correct gear for entry and exit to the corner.  

Partial front
The 5.5 litre supercharged V8 supercharged petrol engine is also available with the new Range. The supercharged version gives out a whooping 500 hp! It will accelerate the huge piece luxury item to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Another engine option is the naturally aspirated V8 that gives out 375 hp. With this in the bonnet one can reach 100 km/h in just 7.2 seconds.

Both V8 are connected to a six speed automatic gearbox. The transmission responds with swift, silken shifts and is optimized to take advantage of such massive power and torque of the supercharged version. Intelligent Sport mode senses and adapts the gearbox characteristics to suit a particular driving style. Paddle-shift is standard on 5.0-litre Supercharged and an option on 5.0-litre Naturally Aspirated version.

Getting prettier each generation
It now boasts of new technologies that help it tackle any surface namely Terrain Response, Hill Start Assist and Gradient Acceleration Control. Hill Start Assist retains the initial driver-generated brake pressure, long enough for the foot to move from brake pedal to throttle without the car rolling backwards. 

The spirit lives on
The brake is released after a sufficient time has elapsed or when the engine is supplying enough torque to move the car up the hill. Gradient Acceleration Control is designed to provide safety cover on steep hills when. GAC slows the car to a limit determined by the throttle position when the car is descending the slope in the driver's intended direction of travel. This includes descending the slope forwards in drive, or rearwards in reverse. It also restricts speed to 5km/h (3.1mph) for up to 20 seconds, allowing the driver to regain proper control. 

Side view
The change is also evident in the exterior of the vehicle. It now has a revised front bumper with fog lamp surrounds, front grille and side vents in Titan finish, revised side sills, rear bumper and stainless steel exhaust finishers. The headlamps style is now emphasized with LED headlights which give it a modern and stylish look. The front doors have tread plates with the Range Rover name backlit by LED lights. The rear doors illuminated tread plates are available as an option.

Go anywhere in  luxury and comfort
One will not only be amazed with the illuminated trade plates but the world renowned luxury interior of the Range Rover. The interior has now been upgraded with leather trim for headlining and door casings combined with sumptuous leather seat trim. The Waterfall lighting gives the interior the delightful lit atmosphere. 

Luxury on wheels
The 12-inch TFT instrument display, behind the steering wheel, provides greater versatility than conventional instruments while the 8-inch Dual View infotainment screen displays a different image to driver and passenger. This means, for example, the driver can view the navigation display while the passenger watches a video.
There is also a portable Audio Interface that supports connection to a wide range of audio storage devices including USB sticks and MP3 players. 

Restyled rear
There's also a dedicated iPod connector port developed exclusively by Land Rover to prevent the iPod coming loose over the roughest terrain. For a owner who loves to be chauffer-driven there is the optional, electronically-controlled, reclining rear seats that have internal heating and cooling functions as well as airline-style winged head restraints and four-way adjustable lumbar support. The rear seat controls also include a facility for moving the front passenger seat forward to gain extended legroom when the front seat is unoccupied.

Range Rover linage
The luxurious rear-seat passenger environment becomes even more opulent with the addition of laminated rear-door privacy glass which has the added benefit of reducing interior noise levels. With the additional of the rear headrest screens and the powerful Logic 7, 1200W Harman Kardon High Dynamics Audio System which now has 15 independent channels driving 19 premium quality speakers the Range Rover is the place to be for the much needed luxury environment in any terrain. Side gills
 It also boasts of a radar blind spot monitoring system that warns of vehicles and objects in the blind spot area. A Surround Camera system makes life much easier in car parks. Emergency Brake Assist and optional Adaptive Cruise Control complete the Land Rover Range Rover's package of active safety features. Other are Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Emergency brake assist (EBA), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control (HDC) and Gradient Release Control (GRC).
